my today.

holidays officially began for me today! yay!!!

met up nicholas (chee) and got introduced by this new york based photographer, Yang Tan. www.yangtan.com
cool dude, cute too. apparently in some forbes list of under 31, didnt catch what nic was saying. rich men under 31? hahha.

hmm... meeting nich just kinda rekindle my vision, my ambition. the studio at little india, just gave a "underground" feel to this whole photography scene in Singapore. he's really...ambitious, having developed soooo far since we've first met. His new film's gonna tour Europe for Cannes before releasing here, its commisioned too! (Surprise surprise: Alvin Neo's the lead.)

so now, i must give a little advertising space to his apparently one-man-company, i'm not too sure about details. something somewhere along the lines of calibrating screens and printers, i'm not too sure. but it sure does wonders for a designer lappy. not so much worries for colour proofing and all that. your b/w picture on screen can REALLY look like how it'll be from the darkroom. and, since it tallies with Simple Digital (Bras Basah, Level 2. Simply the best place to print.) you can pretty much print what you see on your screen! How cools that? Should have gotten it done long before all those Prepress assignments. Tag my blog for more details for any interested parties alright?

I guess another thing that strikes me is how even though Nich have been our mentor a long long time ago, he still takes time to meet up and share a little insight to his life, and how-to-dos photoshop blah blah. Selfless, I'd say. He doesnt have that, i'm-a-big-shot, you're-just-students attitude. Cool. I'll pass this practice on when I break even someday.

random thought: one can really make it big with a style/vision. for market spoilers like cheap photographers simply fire away without a distinct style nor concept. no offence to anyone, but in my words, ah pek photography. Photography, in a design environment, should be one without the limitations of rules or "should-be-like-thats", be it in pre or post production. It adds into the conceived and woven distinct style of the individual, but that certainly does not mean any shortcuts by proclaiming laziness as "style". Big name photographers (i.e david lachapelle, garry winogrand) developed works that practically scream their names.

really tired, will update more in time to come.
