1. Submits proposal, given green light provided no body parts can be seen.
2. Crit One, Crit Two goes smoothly. Feedback received was to ensure it never crossed the obscene line. Crit Two gave birth to the new idea of having two compilations, one for public show (which means NC16 Rated Pictures) and another for submission only (R21).
3. Went ahead and photograph pictures to add body to the second book, about 50% of final images were shot during this time.
4. Crit Three: Completion of two books, submitted. Made a comment that I am only doing this for "personal satisfaction" now, not at all for the grades now at this juncture. A certain lecturer rebutted by saying "don't worry, it shows that yours is VERY very personal."
5. The monday late afternoon, 28th Jan, when I was already late for printing, came a call about a decision from the lecturers' discussion. "You are not to submit the two books, or face disqualification for FYP."
6. Cried. And tried not to while on the phone with Cheeyong, who is the really, most brilliant lecturer I ever had, who told me to not fight it, and just do ANOTHER book to submit.
7. Had meeting on Tuesday where the decision is not so much "discussed", but "reinforced".
8. Sent for print on Thursday.
9. Received call on Friday morning, nice printer told me about Singapore printing laws, and its rules on circulation of nude photography. Told me his lady was offended and refused to print. Still said all is well, and will proceed for me, only if I know the consequences, and whether my lecturers are aware of it AND provided it is not for circulation (which is honestly true.)
10. Got a quote $300 more than expected, laid out the figures and asked if calculation was correct. After discussion, turned out boss will give a discount. got a message from nice lady. "Hwah u youngsters so gungho. salute u all" I replied. "Only time in our lives we can not be bogged down by harsh reality. :)"
11. Msged Cheeyong saying "printer can only give it to me 18 Feb, cannot show for interim. How?" Received reply. "Cy will talk to Hon." of which I replied "bo pian now, even if Hon says no, I can't do anything. Thanks."
12. Fuck Fyp. I really cannot be bothered to run that last leg of which I am not allowed to give my best.
*Decision as to whether I can put up the book for DIP show is still pending. Was advised against going to MDA for permission, only because school will get implicated.
*Future FYP students, i think alot of us have learnt that lecturers sometimes gives contradictory feedback, should it be viable means, record all your feedback from critiques and document the evidences so you can use it as your advantage should anything go really extremely off-course. Others that yet to enroll, enroll into private schools, all without these "creative constraints" set by us being a government school.

very proud to have befriended you. though there are many times, our perceptions of certain things are very different. of cos, i do things less controversy than you but doesnt mean i would disagree with your works. im still on your side supporting because you dare to be different.
soon fyp will be history and we'll move on to greater journey together.

dont let the school hinder you,
if they(some lecturers, not all) cannot see that daring, brashness is a quality of creativity unto itself,
then its their loss, not yours,
you are making a difference on how people should think or accept things,
don't stop

You did well. In fact, you did very well! It's not just about FYP, but it's about something deeper you pursue in life, it's about your passion, your own values, your beliefs.
You’ve come to another phase in life where you are challenged, again. You ever told me this before; that grades are not everything. They are important but they don't determine who you are.
I was quite wowed when you first shared with me this project you're doing at Oon's place. And dear girl, just look back, see how far you've come. You're just a step away from accomplishment. (*applauses)

If worse comes to worst, I have a really crazy idea. There’s the media, the press! This is what MICA has to say about their core value on creativity: We are constantly seeking new ideas and challenging the bounds of convention to break new grounds.
Isn’t that what you’re doing? And well, you’re telling me it’s not acceptable or approved in your school? Bring it on! There might be a hundred out there who have faced the same situation as you, or are going to face such a situation in the future. It isn’t a topic we can evade. Let’s look out for a journalist who supports you, then get into some good (national) debate or discussion about it. Sounds v crazy, but, whatever! :)
