The Stolen Child

the loss of a dream, one after another. The loss of friends, the glaring harsh light of reality. The loss of innocence, flung to a society where sins rule. Morals eroded, values buried deep within yellowed photographs.

does time makes all wiser? how do we know who to trust, where to go, who loves us, who doesn't? Why isn't a private world where thoughts remains uninterrupted, undisturbed not seen as a norm? Being alone, trapped and covered with darkness and silence, a world of my own.

No explanation, no talk. The book sounds so much aligned to the tale of my life. The world of his, so private and isolated, his thoughts, so profound yet simple to comprehend, his perception, his frustration. Wings. The character's name. Wings, who loves the airplanes. Wings, who lost Janet to time and distance. Wings, the scout. Wings who lost Karen to Johnson for the second time. Wings and his shattered dreams of flying, his integrity and honour he upholds. So familiar, so close to my heart. The vivid description shapes the character, making him so alive, as though I know his myself. The understanding and sympathy I felt was so strong. Ache was what my heart did for the characters whose values were corrupted, whose soul is lost in the midst of fast paced society.

The Stolen Child by Colin Cheong, highly recommended for loners or uniform group members. A book which we all can relate to. The rules, the promise, the ten laws.
